Super Simple Snacks: Protein Balls

We know how difficult it can be to maintain a good diet when you are on the go, so we have made a list of some of our favourite protein snacks. These snacks are super simple to make and taste delicious. You’ll never have an excuse for heading to work with a bag of sweets and crisps after you have tried these amazing protein balls.

NO-BAKE ALMOND JOY ENERGY BALLS

Servings: Yields 24 Balls

These little balls of joy will send you to the tropics. Packed with protein, coconut and almonds each of these delicious balls will give you a burst of energy! A delightful snack for on-the-go, anytime, anywhere. 

Ingredients:

  • 40g Chocolate Flavour Whey Protein Concentrate
  • 150g Dates
  • 240g Ground Almonds
  • 30g Unsweetened Cacoa Powder
  • 55g Unsweetened Coconut Flakes (reserve half for rolling)
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1-2 Tbsp Milk (or plant based/soy alternative)

Directions:

  1. Put 1/2 of your coconut flakes into the food processor and process to break up flakes slightly (about 1 minute). Do not over-process or it will become coconut butter.
  2. Remove flakes and put them to one side, then place your dates in the food processor and process until they have broken up and come together into a ball.
  3. Break up the dates with hands and add in almonds, cocoa powder, 20g of coconut flakes, 40g of Chocolate Flavour Whey and sea salt.
  4. Processes for several minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.
  5. Add in vanilla extract and 1 tbsp of almond milk.
  6. Process until mixture comes back together into a ball. If it doesn't do this, add in 1 more tablespoon of almond milk.
  7. Remove mixture from the food processor and roll into 12 equal sized balls.
  8. Roll each ball in the coconut flakes you processed earlier.
  9. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

No-Bake Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Balls

Servings: Yields 18 balls

Estimated Time: 10 mins

Caution! The tasty blend of chocolate and almonds in these snack balls is likely to cause addiction! These power packed protein balls make for an absolutely delicious (and healthy!) sweet treat. With 5 grams of protein per ball, these are ideal for a post-workout break. 

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Place protein powder and almond flor in a medium-size bowl and mix.
  2. Then, add in nut butter and maple syrup and mix again. At this point the batter should be just like cookie dough.
  3. Finally, add in your cacao nibs and mix one last time. Using a tablespoon, scoop out the dough into your palms and roll into balls. Repeat until all the mixture is gone.
  4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

No-Bake Brownie Protein BALLS

Servings: Yields 8 Balls

Estimated Time: 10 mins

No time to bake brownies? No problem! These ever so sticky sweet no-bake brownies take no time to make. The coconut flour gives them a wonderful balance of blissful sweetness and a hint of tropical joy.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to the bowl of a food processor or blender and process until they have fully combined to form a dough. You may need to add a splash of extra milk or a small sprinkle of coconut flour to get the consistency perfect. The mixture should stick together easily when pressed without being overly sticky.
  2. Using a heaping tablespoon, roll dough between your hands to form balls. Set aside on a plate and repeat with remaining dough. 
  3. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
